November - December 2006
|
Thanksgiving This year Michael wanted to help cook and experiment with
his own flavoring of some of the dishes, so in additional to the usual turkey
and side dishes, we had two different kinds of mashed potatoes, fruit, and
salads.

He wanted a picture of his meal because he liked the colors and symmetry |

Daniel wrote a school essay
about what he's thankful for. You can read it at
Daniel's Thanksgiving Essay.
I'm
most thankful for five years of building a family together here with Michael
and Daniel, for the support of all my family and friends, and for beautiful
and dramatic mountains to explore.. |

Daniel's Cats
Two of Daniel's kittens have ended up living with us
permanently. They are the sisters Bob (aka Bobby) and Tweedledum (aka
Trouble, because of her tendency to get into things over her head.)
During November, their brothers Jeffrey and Tweedledum (aka Big Dee) have also
come to visit. |

November Snowstorm
This November was a wild month for weather in Western
Washington. Earlier in the month, heavy rain broke a fifty-year record
for the month. Then the last week of the month brought snow and ice,
which shut down the schools for several days. On the first night of
snow, Daniel spent hours outside playing and building a snow fort.

School News
Daniel finished the first trimester with all A's.
Michael's SAT scores were in the 95th precentile.

Basketball
Daniel is playing on the St. Therese 7th
grade junior varsity team this year, because they didn't have enough boys in
his class to form a 6th grade team. Their coach has been doing a great
job of teaching them how to work together and play as a team. Daniel has
always played well on defense, and this year he's becoming more confident on
offense. On 12/17, he scored the first basket of the game. So far,
his team is 3-0. |
