Daniel Gehlke10/27/2006 Book Report
This report is about the parts of the Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King by J. R. R. Tolkien that weren’t in the movie. I also have one piece from the Two Towers
This paragraph is about before, during, and after the Battle of the Shire. Before the battle of the Shire Mary, Pippin, Sam, and Frodo came back to the Shire. When they got there, there was a big gate. So the hobbits let them in against orders. Later on the sheriffs arrest them. Sheriffs are the law and order around the Shire until Sharky corrupted them. But they were let free by the sheriffs against orders. Then they go get all the hobbits to rebel. During the battle of the Shire the hobbits get rid of the “ruffians.” After the battle of the Shire Frodo and the others find that Sharky is Saruman. But then Wormtongue strangles Sharky to death. Then in a flash of light some of the hobbits shoot many arrows in Wormtongue.
At Helm’s Deep the elves never really came. It was a human battle.
This paragraph is about the Halls of the Dead. When Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimly went in to the Halls of the Dead Aragorn’s kin were there also the Dunedain. And believe it or not Gimly was scared! Then Aragorn met with the dead at the Stone of Rune. They had to do what Aragorn said because they wanted to fulfill their oath. Aragorn didn’t want the army of the dead to kill all the enemies, he just wanted them to scare of the Corsairs. Then Aragorn got all the men of Southern Gondor who were fighting the Corsairs to get on the ships and fight the enemy army. This paragraph is about The Ride of the Rohirrim. The Ride of the Rohirrim is when the men of Rohan gather. Next they have to go through the forest and the wild men help them. The wild man they talk to is Ghan Buri Ghan. Then they go through the rubble of the wall that Gondor built. Then they ride down on to Pellenor Fields. This is straight out of the book about Theoden, “His golden shield was uncovered, and lo! it shone like an image of the Sun, and the grass flamed into green about the white feet of his steed. For morning came, morning and a wind from the sea; and darkness was removed, and the hosts of Mordor wailed, and terror took them, and they fled, and died, and the hoofs of wrath rode over them.” This paragraph is about what happens to the hobbits of the fellow ship. In 1427 Sam is elected mayor. In 1430 Faramir, son of Pippin is born. In 1431 Goldilocks, daughter of Sam is born. In 1432 Mary, called the Magnificent, becomes Master of Buckland. In 1434 Pippin becomes Took of Thain and Sam becomes mayor for the 2nd time. In 1441 Sam becomes mayor for the 3rd time. In 1442 Sam and his wife go to live in Gondor. In 1448 Sam becomes mayor for the 4th time. In 1455 Sam becomes mayor for the 5th time. In 1462 Sam becomes mayor for the 6th time. Faramir Took marries Goldilocks, daughter of Sam. In 1469 Sam becomes mayor for the 7th and last time, beginning in 1476, at the end of his office, 96 years old. In 1482 Sam’s wife Mistress Rose died and Sam goes to the undying lands. |
